i like to think i control my manic tendencies fairly well nevertheless, i often feel there is no in between. regarding myself personally, i am mostly content. it's only when i start to think hard about the state of this world that the depression creeps in. it can really get me down sometimes. why do i have to keep reading about teenage girls being murdered and other various no-good-nicks around the world slaughtering each other, literally, with machetes? am i going to have to stop reading news media entirely? its not fair! why are all of these things happening? i don't really know either, but i pretend to have a theory...
i believe that these things i keep reading about, for example, the abducted teenagers, machete victims, criminality in general, many physical and mental illnesses are all symptoms of one single larger problem. I have a terrible feeling that our entire global society is counter intuitive and may be the cause of so many of these problems. I think that unfortunately the world we've made is poison to the natural world and in a very real sense poison to our own selves. I do know that this is not a revolutionary thought. Many great people have said things similar and more profound than this. Struggling to find good things in the world can sometimes make it seem torturous to even want to keep living. Though, I stress the "make it seem" part. It can make it seem torturous but, i believe what it really does is bring into sharper detail the ridiculously insane destiny i like to imagine for myself and indicates that it may possibly be real.
I support "re-wilding". But on an extremist level. Google it... http://www.rewilding.org/ i once did some math. i said once. so anyways, there are 350 million people in america, approximately. Right? Stay with me... Between them, the two once glorious 1350-foot-high Twin Towers Of New York City's World Trade Center provided nearly 7.9 million square feet of rent-able floor space, roughly the equivalent of fifty city blocks. My plan allows for 1000 square feet of living space for every man, woman , and child in america. So get out the calculator & see that a twin tower sized complex would give 7900 people their own individual one thousand square foot space. How many of these complexes would we have to build in order to give every person in america one of these little cubes? Well, keep that calculator out & let's press some buttons!
As far as my math get me, it seems that we would need approx 44, 304 of theses complexes around the united states. Divide by 50 states & it looks like we'd need to have approx 886 of these sites in every state. So, my plan is to completely bulldoze the infrastructure. Everything goes. Knock it all down & make it into nice piles of sorted out materials. Then we have to make a generational sacrifice & go live in our high-rise complexes for, say, 4 or 8 generations while the natural world around us has a chance to grow back. Then when we decide to come back out we can do things right. We can build around the environment instead of through it. We can use the time in our high-rise world to study & figure out new ways to build an nationwide infra-structure. I truly believe the only successful way to live as a species on this planet is to figure out ways to live with the flow of nature not against it.
Just a thought. You can all put your hands down now...
